Learning is happening again in the historic school building housing Trumbull Community Action Partnership in Warren, Ohio.
TCAP and Oak Hill Collaborative have created the Warren-Trumbull Digital Advantage program in the agency’s Robin Elzy Learning Center. The classes are targeted toward seniors or others who have struggled with the “digital divide,” said TCAP CEO Van Nelson.
“They teach the basics – stuff I really take for granted,” Nelson said. “They take it seriously and are really paying attention.”
The center includes 20 computers provided by the collaborative. Classes are also offered in using smart phones, he added.
Warren has been identified as the fifth least connected city in Ohio. The Collaborative is also providing affordable connectivity thanks to an Ohio’s Appalachian Community Grant Program.
Other topics covered in the classes include email, Excel, QR codes and cybersecurity basics. Other partners in the connecting the community of Warren are the Trumbull County Metropolitan Housing Authority, the Greater Youngstown-Warren Urban League and Warren City Schools.
